#10 Die Verfassung der Repuplik Užupis, Kūdrų parkas und Heißluftballons / The Constitution of the Užupis Republic, Kūdrų parkas and hot air balloons

Gegen Abend machte ich mich heute auf zum Park „Kūdrų parkas“, den meine Zimmergenossin mir empfohlen hatte und der fußläufig nur eine Viertelstunde entfernt liegt. Ich musste wieder durch Užupis.

Towards evening today I went to the park „Kūdrų parkas“, which my roommate had recommended to me and which is only a quarter of an hour’s walk away. I had to go through Užupis again.

Dabei begegnete mir die Verfassung dieses Viertels in allen möglichen Sprachen!

Thereby I encountered the constitution of this neighbourhood in all kinds of languages!

Die Vilnele, auf Google Maps „Vilnia“, ist der Fluss, den ich überquere, wenn ich aus Uzupiz hinausgehe. Der breitere Fluss Vilnius‘, wo ich zum Beispiel aussteige, wenn ich mit dem Bus in die Innenstadt fahre, heißt Neris.

The Vilnele, „Vilnia“ on google maps, is the river I cross when I go out of Uzupiz. The wider Vilnius river, where I get off for example when I take the bus to the city centre, is called Neris.

Das zweite Gesetz, das jedem Menschen das Recht auf heißes Wasser, Heizung im Winter und auf ein Ziegeldach zuweist, hat mir besonders gut gefallen. Besonders die Heizung im Winter – ich bin gespannt, wie diese im Wohnheim umgesetzt wird, habe aber schon weitere Gerüchte gehört, wie dass die Bewohner dann im Anorak herumlaufen.

I particularly liked the second law, which gives everyone the right to hot water, heating in winter and a tiled roof. Especially the heating in winter – I am curious how this will be implemented in the dormitory, but I have already heard other rumours, such as that the residents will then walk around in an anorak.

Von Anorak konnte heute aber noch nicht die Rede sein. Es waren 23 Grad und ich ging im T-Shirt.

Ich träume von einem Balkon. Gestern saß ich mit jemandem zum Quatschen auf einer Bank vor dem Wohnheim, mit diesem Ausblick:

Ich kam an einem schönen Buchladen vorbei, der auch deutsche Ausgaben enthielt.

Weiter oben in der Straße liegt „HERR KATT“ – der beste Name für einen Friseursalon. Leider nur für Herren. / Further up the street is „HERR KATT“ – the best name for a hairdressing salon. Unfortunately, only for men.

Dann sah ich drei Heißluftballons. Beim Weitergehen wurden es mehr, bis ich neun zählen konnte. Außerdem kam ich an mindestens vier Friseursalons und nicht weniger Kunstgalerien vorbei. Uzupis wird nicht umsonst als Künstlerviertel bezeichnet.

Then I saw three hot air balloons. As I walked on, there were more until I could count nine. I also passed at least four hairdressing salons and no fewer art galleries. Uzupis is not called the artists‘ quarter for nothing.
